Morphine
Year 2011
49x69
charcoal

This work was created as an association to the music (Dioxyde –Morphine) depicting an anti-drug propaganda and the effect of drugs on human body and mind. It appeared to be the most successful among all works on this topic. The technique of charcoal was new to me, nevertheless, it suited perfectly to the idea of work as charcoal gives a feeling of dirt and depression. Other sources of influence:

Mikhail Bulgakov “A Young Doctor's Notebook”, especially “Morphine”

Film “Morphine” by Aleksei Balabanov

“Requiem for a dream” Darren Aronofsky
